How do I know if the HMUA is “right” for me?

Firstly, ask yourself what’s your main beauty concern or preference. Next, browse through our HMUA’s portfolio and find one style that you like.

Do I really need a MUA if I know how to do my own makeup?

If you know what makeup works both off and on camera, by all means, go ahead. But for many of us, what we think looks great for our daily face might look too washed out during the wedding / event with the gown / dress, veil and all that jazz.

I have sensitive skin/skin allergies, can a HMUA work with that?

Do you know what causes your skin to have such a reaction? If you know that it’s caused by a certain product or type of ingredient, let us know. For people with hyper-sensitive skin, you should bring some of your own skincare or makeup products on the wedding / event day itself too, just in case of emergencies!

How long will my makeup last? Do I need the HMUA to be around for touch-ups the whole day?

Depending on the climate you are in and your skin type, you may want to hire the artist to return for a touch-up, or just do it yourself if you can manage.

You should schedule a trial session, so you can get a feel as to whether the makeup will last through the day or night.

Do I have to schedule a trial? What goes on during one?

A trial is really great for seeing how long the makeup lasts on you. It’s also good to schedule a trial so that you get to know your HMUA better, we get to know what looks you’re comfortable with so that no one freaks out on the wedding / event day!

I don’t usually wear makeup so I’m afraid the HMUA might make me look too overdone.

Absolutely! You don't have to wear a lot of makeup on your wedding day to look beautiful, it just needs to be applied correctly and with the appropriate products. If you don't want to look too "made up" for your wedding, I can give you a very soft, natural bridal look. It is most important on this day that your makeup lasts, looks great in photographs, makes you feel beautiful and is applied flawlessly to make you feel and look your best on this very special day. Here, it is really essential that you communicate this with our HMUA. Tell them your concerns.

Semi-permanent make-up is considered permanent since the implanted pigment cannot be washed off and remains perfectly applied. In time however fading will occur and some or the entire colour will need to be reapplied and a colour boost should be taken annually to keep the enhancement fresh and can last up to 2 years with touch ups.

For most clients its fine. For others it can be a little uncomfortable depending on the individual’s pain threshold and time of the month, however numbing creams are applied prior and/or during treatment and continued throughout to keep any discomfort to a minimum.
